Solitaire has many variants. These are the rules for Klondike Solitaire on this site, using a single 52-card deck without jokers.
Deal and objective
Seven tableau columns contain one through seven cards, with only each column’s top card face-up initially. The remaining 24 cards form the stock. The foundations begin empty. Win by placing all cards into four same-suit foundations, ordered Ace, Two, Three and onward to King.
Tableau moves
A face-up card can be placed on a card exactly one rank higher and of the opposite color. Hearts and Diamonds are red; Clubs and Spades are dark. A correctly ordered face-up run can move together, following the same rule at its leading card.
Only a King or a run beginning with a King may enter an empty tableau column. Hidden cards cannot be moved directly. A face-down card exposed at the top of a column flips automatically.
Foundations and the waste
An Ace starts its suit’s foundation. Subsequent cards must be the next rank in that suit. Move only the available top tableau card or waste top to a foundation. A foundation’s top card may move back to a legal tableau destination; this can matter when planning a sequence.
The stock draws one card in Draw 1 or up to three in Draw 3. Only the waste top is playable. When the stock is empty, recycling returns the waste for another pass. This game permits unlimited passes.
Product controls are not extra rules
Undo reverses accepted actions, including automatic flips. Restart uses the same seed and draw mode with a fresh attempt. Timer visibility and sound are preferences; neither affects legal moves or winning. Strategy can help you choose among legal moves, but it does not change what is allowed.
